Madagascar Vanilla
Vanilla was introduced to Madagascar in the latter part of 19th century by French colonists. Since then, the country has become the leading cultivator, producer and exporter of natural vanilla.

Most vanilla is cultivated in the SAVA region along the east coast, but also in the north west of the island.
